God forges His heart into His people through impossible situations. Very often the very thing that the enemy is using for our fear and discouragement are the things that God will miraculously use for our faith and establishment. Chapter 17 is all about the conflict between David and Goliath. The unassuming shepherd from a little country village becomes the victorious conqueror by overcoming a seemingly invincible enemy. David is foreshadowing Jesus, our great conqueror, our great King, the great shepherd of our souls. David also reveals insights that show us how to win the spiritual war. Two of our spiritual enemy’s tactics are unveiled and brilliantly defended as David alone sees things from God’s perspective and not a human perspective. As we find ourselves in impossible situations, we must choose to see that Jesus is in control, that Jesus can be trusted, and that Jesus is where our eyes need to be fixed.
