Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast, provides his perspective on how to choose the best enrollment model for online courses. He compares the open/closed model versus the ongoing, open enrollment model. Jason shares the pros and cons of each and offers his time-tested recommendations to course creators.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: The open/closed model is a course that’s available for finite periods of time. In the ongoing model, people can enroll anytime 365 days a year and 24 hours a day.  Jason recommends starting out with the open/closed enrollment model as it creates an element of scarcity. The open/closed model can be more labor intensive. If there are tech issues, they’ll be experienced by your cohort of students at the same time.  You can use a Facebook Group to help students build a community and create camaraderie around your course. Jason recently shut down the Ketamine Academy course for 8 weeks to overhaul the program and make course updates.  If you have an online course, you’ll always make improvements based on student experience and feedback. When you're ready for the second cohort of students, make sure you’ve tweaked your course based on feedback from the first student group.  The benefit of ongoing enrollment is sales trickle in. There’s no massive issues or tech glitches you’ll need to address.  Everyone has a skill set they can help somebody with. You can create educational content and people will pay to learn from you.  Creating the course is the easy part; marketing and selling the course is more challenging.   3 KEY POINTS: If you’re launching your first course, use the open/closed enrollment model so students go through the course together as a cohort.  When you create an online course, you’ll always make modifications and improvements. There’s little overhead to selling your knowledge online. You need a laptop, mic and webcam.    TWEETABLE QUOTES: “For your first course launch, I highly recommend doing an open/closed enrollment for the main benefit of having everybody move through it at the same time.” – Jason Duprat “I think everybody should be considering selling something online." – Jason Duprat   RESOURCES MENTIONED: Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy Facebook Group For Digital Businesses:  https://bit.ly/37O6vhR Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy Facebook Group For Brick and Mortar:  https://bit.ly/3ekZmbe Jason’s Website:  JasonDuprat.com Jason’s Socials:  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonduprat  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jasonaduprat Ketamine Academy Website ketamineacademy.com Ketamine Academy Free Training Presentation: ketamineacademy.com/presentation #HealthcareEntrepreneurAcademy #HealthcareBoss #healthcare #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #onlinecourses #studentcohort #facebookgroups
