http://www.alainguillot.com/grant-baldwin/ Grant Baldwin is a speaker, podcaster, author, entrepreneur, and an amazing speaking coach. He has always enjoyed speaking and helping, so he went to Bible college and became a youth pastor. He worked at the local church and had a great time doing that. This is the place where Grant had an opportunity to address an audience on a consistent basis. Grant decided that he wanted to be a speaker and started asking for some guidance. He quit his full-time job, took a couple of part-time jobs while he worked on his craft. It took about two years before he was able to make a living as a speaker. In the last few years, he has spoken to audiences all over the country, he has spoken at hundreds of events and he has given thousands of presentations in conferences, assemblies, conventions, and other events. He has spoken in front of audiences of as little as 10 to arenas filled with 13,000 people. Grant also runs a podcast called The Speaker Lab podcast and helps other speakers start, build and grow their business. The Successful Speaker We spoke about his recent book The Successful Speaker Five Steps For Booking Gigs, Getting Paid, And Building Your Platform. With the help of Jeff Goins. The most important thing is to decide what is it that we want to talk about, what is the problem we want to solve, and who will be willing to listen. We learn to prepare for a speech, to control our nervousness and to estimate the hours of practice we should put into the preparation. Establishing a relationship with the audience and with the event organizers is the lifeblood of the speaking business. Also, speakers should put a lot of effort into developing their brand.
