The summer of 1991 could be deemed as one of the most innovative times in heavy metal. Over the past few weeks, Horns Up has been celebrating albums that were released then, and still continue to be not just era-defining, but also, worthy of being tagged as truly influential. In this episode, Animesh and Peter share their love for an album that really pushed the boundaries of what metal could be. "Unquestionable Presence" by Atheist is a 32 minute, 8-song bearing slab of music that can easily be attached as an example to the dictionary definitions of progressive and technical music. Morrisound Recordings studios in Tampa, Florida, USA was THE place for death metal in 1991. The Cannibal Corpse’s Butchered at Birth discussed in the previous episode was recorded there. This week, Animesh and Peter are talking about another album that was recorded there in the same year, Atheist’s Unquestionable Presence.
