In the Rolando Village neighborhood of San Diego, California, local defense attorney Tim MacNeil had come home in the middle of his work day on July 19, 2007 to pick up his 17 year old step daughter, Brae, for a lunch date she had planned for them to celebrate his 63rd birthday.
