Miscellaneous

Winning cures all… right? Well the Redskins have finally one another game, this time beating the Detroit Lions in a close game that finished 19-16. It wasn't exactly a pretty Win, or a convincing Win, but at the end of the day a Win is a Win! This week's W brings the Washington Redskin's 2019 season record to 2-9, still terrible, but doesn't it just feel good to Win again (especially at home)! This game just felt different from the start, maybe I am just so beaten down by our season so far that I am numb to the thought of another loss, or maybe it was just the team playing differently then I have seen in the last few weeks, but this game never felt out of reach, despite the offensive struggles, the team had a different feel, and different swagger then we're used to seeing and it was actually enjoyable to watch, it was something I haven't felt in a while watching this team play… The team was elevated by some good defensive play and a stellar Special Teams effort, including a ridiculous 91-yard touchdown on a kick-return by Steven Sims. Haskins looked much more comfortable in the pocket, went through his progressions and made his decisions faster and was much more confident throwing the ball and stretching the field. But the ultimately Haskins was not always accurate and the offense again struggled, they unable to put up a touchdown; in fact they were only able to put up 230 total yards on the day… Needless to say there are some positives, but a lot to be worked on still… In Episode Twenty-Three, I cover the good, the bad and the ugly of the Redskins eleventh regular season game of the 2019 season against the Detroit Lions… I fully review the game overall, Dwayne Haskins continued struggles (which are fully expected), Just how great Terry McLaurin is as a receiver and how he may have been the steal of the draft in the third round, I discuss some other young players who had big days on the defensive side of the ball, notable Fabian Moreau, Cole Holcomb and Quinton Dunbar and Landon Collins… I take another deep dive into Dwayne Haskins, his play on the day, another reminder about how all that matters at this point in the season is that he continues to develop and progress as a player. That no matter what the outcome of the game he needs to be building off of his performances week in and week out and by the end of the season he needs to show that he has the potential to be the future face of this franchise, for better or worse, he needs to show he is the guy that this team so desperately needs him to be… and finally, I close the Podcast with my prediction for the upcoming week thirteen game against the Carolina Panthers… As always, enjoy my unsolicited and unrealistically optimistic opinions on all things Washington Redskins in this Episode covering the 2019 Week Twelve Win against the Detroit Lions… If you are enjoying the Podcast (and I hope that you are), please subscribe, leave a rating or review and tell a friend, it really helps to reach a wider audience and I would be very grateful… if you don't already, please follow me on Twitter @HTTRChamps and as always, #HTTR --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/offseasonchampions/message
