Over the last few weeks, we’ve gone through the basics of meditation. Now I want to shift into, more specifically, meditation for awakening — and the true goal or purpose of meditation. Meditation has never been more popular, but it’s also been perverted into a utilitarian tool for productivity in its most accessible forms. I liken the common meditation apps of the day to welding training wheels onto your bike: it’s definitely easier to start, but they’ll slow you down forever. Meditation can have a transformative effect on your experience of life, but if you are pursuing meditation as a means to an end, as a way of achieving a specific goal, you’re probably going to be disappointed… and you’re definitely going to miss out on the greatest benefits of meditation.
