Storytime For Travellers

Society & Culture

Eric Larsen is a polar explorer who has completed more North and South Pole expeditions than any American in history. With over 20 years of experience navigating some of the world's most dangerous, hostile and isolated environments on our planet, his stories are truly astonishing. In 2006 he completed the first ever summer expedition to the North Pole and in 2010 he earned a Guinness World Record for doing expeditions to the North Pole, South Pole and summiting Mt Everest all in only one year. In his book On Thin Ice: An Epic Final Quest into the Melting Arctic, Eric documents his experience with fellow explorer Ryan Waters on a two month, completely unsupported expedition from land to the geographic North Pole. That trip in 2014, is most likely the last ever expedition of its kind that an explorer could feasibly make because of global warming. In our conversation we chat climate change, dealing with intense cold both physically and mentally and coming face-to-face with polar bears - plus loads more. Eric's Instagram: @elexplore Eric's documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEmrlfZ0zFAEric's book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thin-Ice-Final-Melting-Arctic/dp/1493022962Our Instagram: @StorytimeForTravellersDo you love to travel?
