In episode five of Remember The Name, we chat with Australian Olympian and Judo athlete Nathan Katz. Katz comes from a Judo family with both his parents and his brother heavily involved in the sport. He and his brother became the first Australian siblings to compete in Judo at the same Olympics when they both qualified for Rio 2016. Now 24, Nathan has his sights set on making his mark in Tokyo 2020, the traditional home of Judo. We caught up with Nathan to chat about his childhood, wrestling with his brother in the backyard as a kid, the nature of dedicating your life to a sport without guarantee of an income, the surreal nature of meeting some of the best athletes in the world and what the future has in stall for him.
