The first modern Olympics were held in 1896 but their traditions date back to the 8th century BC. It is an iconic event littered with tradition, hard work, records and emotions. Could that all be able to change as there are whispers of video games being included in future Olympics? In this show I discuss some thoughts around a recent article in the Economist which delivered some very interesting insights into the participation in video games such as Fortnite and Leave of Legends. I look into the rich and interesting history of the Olympic games, where it all started, why it only happens every 4 years and some of the popular and less popular sports that we see in the spectacle that is the Olympics.Maybe this is a change we need, maybe it is what the modern world looks like and maybe as new sports are added, others are dropped off it is time to include the sports, hobbies or pastimes that get the most attention these days.
