As adapted from [(https://impostorsyndrome.com/](The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women, by Dr Valerie Young) and summarised by the ever-inspiring Robert Gerrish THE 5 IMPOSTER PROFILES ? THE PERFECTIONIST - Your goals are through the roof You expect yourself to be 100% perfect 100% of the time. Delegating is tough because you need to spend the next 48 years getting it right all on your own SOLUTION: ⚗️Treat your every day as an experiment — Perfection in your eyes will not always equate to perfection in someone else’s. The pressure you’re putting on yourself is more likely to freeze your momentum, rather than end in the unobtainable goals you’re putting on yourself The Perfectionists among us deserve nothing short of fulfilment in the process... To chill out a little and enjoy the ride. ??‍♀️SUPERWOMAN/SUPERMAN - You’re convinced you’re a phoney You work overtime You ignore your passions and throw everything into work To the detriment of super spesh time sipping margaritas with the ones you love SOLUTION: ⚡️ Create a folder of EPIC - All of the sparkliest work you’ve ever graced the planet with. Then when your sneaky Superwoman pops up asking you ‘hey, what do you know?’ You can say ‘oh, I don’t know, but you can check out THIS AMAZING ARRAY OF WORK THAT I’M PROUD OF!’ ? NATURAL GENIUS - Your friends call you ‘the smart one’ You’ve never had a mentor because you believe that you must figure it all out on your own You kick yourself when you miss the mark by a smidge SOLUTION: ? Create your Unicorn Gang — Unicorn Gangs do have a misleading name. Because constructive feedback will always be more useful than comments like ‘it’s nice.’ But by sharing your struggles, conflicts and ideas with others who truly care, you’ll be able to get outta your own head and a whole world of possibilities are right there, ready to blow your damn mind. A lot of you are going this whole Imposter Syndrome thing on your own, and it breaks my blackened heart. ??‍♀️SOLOIST - You are independent. So you never ask for help. You put your client’s needs ahead of your own, even if that means skipping lunch SOLUTION: Take a lunch break and treat yourself to the good bread. ?? Because it really does taste better. And because #youreworthit ??‍♀️ Your clients and customers will not love you any less for taking time to unplug, recharge and re-energise ?THE EXPERT - You feel you never know enough, so you’re always upskilling... But after the next course, you still think you need to know morrreee! SOLUTION: Upskilling is fab. ✔️Own your personal magic. Your biggest secrets to feeling fulfilled and happy are hidden within your experiences, your bones, your delightful sparkly mind. ✨ Sure, take a course. Read a book. Build a castle of post-it notes. But also know that action is the secret sauce to finessing, refining and slaying.
