Colleen Babcock connected with Horizon when her son started to come to us for support and treatment. She set up a meeting with Horizon’s CEO and proposed her position of Parent and Family Support Coordinator. After experiencing the treatment system as a parent, she felt like it was vital to have a person on staff who solely works with parents, families, friends and community members who are navigating the treatment system and trying to educate themselves on next steps. Colleen meets and speaks with families and loved ones of patients who are in different stages of navigating treatment. She provides education, awareness and support around substance use. Her role allows her to be a constant resource for families to call when they have questions, need support or are seeking information or treatment for a loved one.
