Sustainable Development for the Soul

Religion & Spirituality

Here we are at the Adam of the Eve before Christmas, This is the sixteenth of 17 weekday episodes this Advent season that will link bible passages for the day with a Sustainable Development Goals that 193 countries adopted to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda to be achieved by 2030.Today's quotation is from Malachi 3:24 "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers: lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema."Malachi predicts a great and terrible day of Yahweh, but beforehand there will be a final warning to set things right before it is too late!Dr. Martin Luther King said: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice," Injustice has within it the seeds of its own destruction. We need to work toward justice now so that the painful and destructive fall that comes after a society becomes totally depraved need not occur. An example would be Hitler.  He did not come to power in 1933 promising to murder 6 million Jews and WWII but did begin suppressing minorities and opponents while gaining more and more power.  The German people did not resist these small injustices so the Nazi agenda advanced.  Let not make that mistake and together stand against injustice, no matter how small. So too it is with sustainable development, we are all called to work toward justice. Today we are talking about SDG #7 Affordable and Clean EnergyEnsure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services.Increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency.Enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research andtechnology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced and cleanerfossil‐fuel technology, and promote investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology.Closing BlessingMay you see injustice and know what you must do to correct it.  May you work toward building a better world for all of God's children.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/user?customColor=c92244)
