Paul’s imprisonment is a difficult life circumstance; he is not sure if he will make it out alive. All the while, the church at Philippi is struggling with persecution and false teachers. It is into this context that Paul instructs the church to avoid anxiety by presenting their petitions to God. He assures them that God’s peace will overwhelm them and continue to protect them.
