“Be fearless and just get creative. Just have fun. Don’t let normality or trendsetting guide you too much.” - Beverley Huynh Growing up in Vancouver, Beverley Huynh had dreams of being the next Vera Wang. Her parents on the other hand, wanted her to pursue a more traditional job, not in the arts. After securing her “Plan B” in the financial world, she knew it was time to go after her “Plan A” with all of her heart. Her vision, dedication, and passion paid off. Now, Beverley is a costume designer whose work can be seen in many popular television shows and films, including Van Helsing, Flash, Arrow and The 100. She is passionate about the art of creating characters and story with fabric, fine delicate details, the development of textile, technology and much more. She has endured many obstacles along the way, one of which is often being the only woman in the room, and the only woman of color in the room. She is a tremendous advocate for continuing to push for diversity in Hollywood, and with May being AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Month, she has been hard at work using her voice. She is a force to be reckoned with and is paving the way for other females in her field. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tomgirltv/support
