RTRFM 92.1 interrupted its usual broadcast on Saturday, November 21st to be front and centre at the Boola Bardip - Museum Opening. Danae and Taylah spoke with WA museum CEO Alec Coles, Museum Project Director Trish McDonald, the recipient of the 2020 Young Australian of the Year award Yarlalu Thomas and other incredible curators of Boola Bardip. In the second part of our broadcast we speak to Ian Cameron, who for the last 52 years has been keeping the the grapevine in front of the old goal alive. Planted in the later 1800's, Ian has kept the vine alive and throughout construction attended to make sure nothing went wrong. We also speak to the owner of Connections Nightclub, Tim Brown. A mainstay in the WA music and nightclub scene for 45 years, Connections is the longest running nightclub in the southern hemisphere and features heavily on the story of WA within the Museum. And finally we speak to MC for the day Yarlalu Thomas. A proud Nyangumarta man who is the 2020 Young West Australia of the year.
