Rebecca has completed 500 hours in yoga training and is currently a second year student in a 4-year yoga therapy program. Inspired when seeing a 90-year old woman doing splits on Jay Leno, Rebecca knew how she wanted to feel in her body as she aged. Not only did yoga help her increase flexibility, but it also helped clear her mind and connect more fully with herself and the world around her. After years of suffering from anxiety and depression, yoga showed her another way to soothe and heal past trauma. Being a student at heart, she is an ongoing learner of  many forms of mind/body medicine. When she’s not busy with teaching yoga she can be found spending time with her family and friends, volunteering for hospice, singing, walking the dog, cooking or reading. In this episode, we dive into how yoga plays into the fundamental aspects of our health and wellness, including:Meditation and mindfulnessGrounding and social connectionPain and inflammation reductionIntentional livingLiterature referenced:"10% Happier" by Dan Harris"The Untethered Soul" by Michael Alan Singer"The Surrender Experiment" by Michael Alan SingerArticle: "Mental fitness: study shows seniors stay healthier with social connections" https://www.naplesnews.com/story/news/2017/03/01/mental-fitness-study-shows-seniors-stay-healthier-social-connections/98520962/Thank you for listening!
