In this episode, Matt chats with Ryan Johnston, the founder and director for Cast Hope. Cast Hope is a 501(c)3 non profit in California and Northern Nevada targeting at risk and under served youth via fly fishing. This episode really hits home with Matt as he is also the Regional Director for Reno/Tahoe. For the last five years Matt has dedicated part of his career to giving the gift of fly fishing to hundreds of deserving youth since he was hired. Listen as Ryan discusses how Cast Hope started in 2009, how the organization took off shortly after, all of the fundraising opportunities throughout a given year and how this has changed his life. Most importantly, Ryan tells multiple stories of how Cast Hope has had a profound impact on lives of so many children. Hearing these stories are a must! As you might imagine, the two finish with the limitations and struggles the virus has had on this small non profit, including loosing nearly $50 thousand in canceled fundraisers this spring alone.
