Society & Culture

Just like any other style of music, hip hop has roots in other forms, and its evolution was shaped by many different artists, but it came to life  on August 11, 1973, at a birthday party in the recreation room of an apartment building in the west Bronx, New York. The specific location of that birthplace was 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, and the man who presided over that historic party was the birthday girl’s brother, Clive Campbell—better known to history as DJ Kool Herc, founding father of hip hop. From that day on, Hip-Hop as we know it has changed the lives of African Americans all over the globe. Hip-Hop gave many of us voices & even painted the picture of some of the very harsh realities for many urban communities. But more importantly Hip-Hop has become a way of life since it's birth in 1973. Today we welcome back two of our favorite guest, Harlem Cee & Sade to talk about something that we all love...Hip-Hop. Join us in this 1st of 2 parts as we discuss the current state of Hip-Hop, our introduction to it & even why we think it is so important. We are talking about all that & more so make sure you tune in & don't forget to catch the 2nd part next Thursday(4/15) on all streaming platforms!!! Don't Forget to Follow Us Online:Facebook & Youtube: Black 2 the Basics PodcastInstagram & Twitter: @B2B_PodcastFor all booking inquires email: black2thebasicspodcast@gmail.com
