Real Money Stories Podcast

Business

This week, in a departure from my usual anonymous guest, I'm joined by Financial Times personal finance editor Claer Barrett.  As well as being a great journalist (and my commissioning editor!) she has a wealth of wisdom and knowledge about personal finance. Claer explains how her humble upbringing taught her to respect and value money, and not to be obsessive about material comforts. And she has some stark advice for female listeners - a man is not a financial plan! Claer tells how and why she realised that her love of playing and creating music was going to be her hobby and not her career. She explains why she believes you make your own luck in life by being proactive and and knowing what you want out of life. Drawing on her own experiences and what she has learned from being the FT Money editor, Claer shares lots of priceless money tips and tricks. A great episode packed full of humour, humility, sense and optimism.
