Join Rob as he shares more inspirational life lessons taken from the works of internationally renowned author and theologist, Henri Nouwen. Discover the importance of leaving your comfort zone behind, why everybody’s journeys are individual and the importance of being a valuable member of your community.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Although we are drawn to comforts and are driven to finding security, staying in your comfort zone is like living a slow death. If you are going to have a meaningful life, you have to get used to and embrace being uncomfortable. If you spend time away from somebody, that will tell you what they are in your life. If you miss them and think about them positively then they are positive in your life. If you don’t miss them or wish to see them again, that may mean they are a drain on your energy. We have to learn to be open. We all want to achieve things and get to certain places, but we have to be open to change along the way. Generally in life, we plan the steps to achieving our goals, and then the universe steps in and leads us to where we want to be, or somewhere different, that is teaching us a lesson. Everyone is on their journey and knowing this is extremely valuable. This gives you peace of mind and enables you to hold on to something you believe because there is an emotion deep inside you that tells you that this is the correct way, when others may be saying otherwise. No man is an island. No man gets there by themselves. Be a part of a community, create a community and be a valuable part of any community and contribute positively towards it. Make every day count as much as you can. You may not think it is positive with a great outcome but if you do your best, give it all you got then you can do no more. If that occurs, the net result of those days added together will be amazing. We often underestimate what we can do in the long term and overestimate what we can do in the short term. Don’t dismiss all those tiny little things that you do.   BEST MOMENTS “I believe that aiming to be comfortable is a slow death.” “We often need to clear the path.” “Everyone including you is on their journey. That is such a valuable thing to understand.” “Be a net positive, not a net negative, be a person that people want to be around.” ABOUT THE HOST Rob Ryles is a UEFA licensed coach with a League Managers Association qualification and a science and medicine background.
