We continue our discussion of Vinnie Fiorello's anthology, 6/19, by taking an in-depth look at chapters 5 through 8. During the month of June 2019, Vinnie Fiorello wrote a short story every day. It was a personal challenge to one, just to see if he could do it, but also to exorcise some personal demons while reflecting on the first act of his life spent in vans and tour buses crisscrossing the world as a touring musician. Not only did he complete the mission of writing a complete story every day, the result is a collection of tales that are sometimes highly personal and heart wrenching, sometimes laugh out loud funny. Each tale is filled with irreverence and life lessons as the author tackles issues like wasted youth, the pains of growing older, and other universal topics that made him famous as the lyricist of the punk band Less Than Jake, a band known for its incredibly catchy music matched with Fiorello’s universally themed yet personal lyrics. Today we begin our in-depth look and conversation about the anthology by listening to the first four chapters of the book, followed by a brief conversation between Jim Tramontana and Vinnie Fiorello.
