News: Disneyland unveiled their new annual passholder program, now called Magic Key. The new program looks to be a re-skin of the old program with four tiers of passes. The Dream Key, which has no blockout dates, allows 6 reservations held at a time, 20% off select merchandise, and 15% off select dining, with parking included for $1,399. The Believe Key is the next level with more blockout dates, 6 reservations at a time, 10% off select merchandise and dining, and 50% off parking for $949. The Enchant Key has more blockouts and is similar to the Flex Pass on the old system. It includes 4 reservations, and 10% off select merchandise and dining for $649. Finally, the Imagine Key is the new SoCal Select Pass with the most blockouts, only available to SoCal residents, 2 reservations, and 10% off select merchandise and dining for $399. All plans allow for a payment plan if the purchaser resides in California. The cast from the movie rode the original attraction and then were accompanied by Jungle Cruise skippers down the red carpet on the small world mall to the premiere held in the Fantasyland Theater. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/exclusive-scenes-from-disneys-jungle-cruise-world-premiere-at-disneyland-park/ For those of you who either went out to the theater or purchased the Premiere Access to The Jungle Cruise on Disney+, you may want to keep an eye out on the attraction next time you visit. Some clever easter eggs have been added to the iconic attraction from the movie. Some clothing worn in the movie appears on the office door and walls of Alberta Falls, a map hangs on the wall across from the Society of Explorers and Adventurers collection, and more! The Golden Horseshoe returned on July 29th for dining only at this time. With the reopening of the Pacific Wharf Cafe, bread bowls have returned. Guests can now get Mac and Cheese, or choice of Broccoli Cheese or Clam Chowder in the bowl. Each version is $11.49. For $5.49, guests can purchase this peanut buttery treat. They spoke with the team responsible for the Stuntronic and how the development process went. The delay in the land opening provided an opportunity to make the show even better by getting Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the movies to record the dialog for the show. – https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/story/2021-06-29/disneyland-avengers-campus-spiderman-robot-california-adventure-stuntronics Cast members were recognized and Disneyland celebrated them by having a week of festivities around the 66th anniversary of the park. Free food, attraction experiences, and after hours celebrations in the parks were offered to cast, as well as duck races. You heard that right! Rubber ducks were purchased for $5 each for cast members, with proceeds going to Goodwill of Orange County, and were raced through “it’s a small world.” In the end, Ruth, who works in Star Wars: Galaxys Edge won the race. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/disneyland-resort-cast-members-make-a-splash-for-66th-anniversary/ Disney Imagineer and Research Fellow Lanny Smoot has been granted his 100th US Patent, a first for anyone from the Walt Disney Company. His 100th patent was for “Systems and Methods of Presenting a Multi-Media Entertainment in a Venue” was granted on August 3rd. Lanny has worked for the last 42 years as a theatrical technology creator, inventor, electrical engineer, scientist and researcher, of which 22 of those years were at Disney. Most recently, he has worked on the new lightsaber technology coming to the Galactic Starcruiser experience coming to Disney World in 2022. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/08/imagineer-and-disney-research-fellow-lanny-smoot-receives-his-100th-us-patent/ An opening day icon was available for purchase on August 2nd. A replica plush from the opening day of Disneyland that traveled with Walt Disney on the Disneyland Railroad was now for sale on Amazon Treasure Truck. The plush is 36″ and is from the Disney Treasures from the Vault collection and is limited edition. The plush went for $99.99 on Monday and is no longer available, but we thought it might be interesting to talk about. – https://www.micechat.com/297411-epic-piece-of-disneyland-nostalgia-recreated-walt-disneys-engineer-mickey/ The Disneyland Resort partnered with the Anaheim Union High School District to support Anaheim’s Innovative Mentoring Experience program. Six students were selected to be paired with mentors at the resort to learn the ins and outs of working in experience integration, industrial engineering, finance, marketing, human resources and public affairs.
