Movie Time Machine

TV & Film

Welcome to Movie Time Machine, where this week in 1989, it’s gonna be a scorcher. The weather is red hot, and the tension is rising with it. We are discussing Spike Lee’s masterpiece, Do the Right Thing. We have done our best to discuss the complex, carefully constructed, and artfully created film about a neighborhood in Brooklyn navigating the outcome of events from one hot summer, and are delighted at the highs of the film, and continue to reckon with the lowest of the lows that the movie lays bare about our society in the United States. Watch this movie, watch it again, and then watch it once more for good measure. And please, for the love of all that is sacred, can we get Spike Lee an academy award for best director?! Join us!
