Kenny Souza, the first big star of duathlon, joins the show to let us know what he’s up to now and to look back at Powerman Zofingen 1992. 1992 was the fourth year for the race and they paid big appearance fees to bring in top name triathletes.  Kenny  did Zofingen the previous two years, winning it in 1990,  and he wasn’t happy about getting a lessor appearance fee than the triathletes. Before the race he told his friend and training partner Mark Allen that he was going to beat him.  His entire focus during the race was beating Mark.  Kenny and Mark were together on the run and the bike.  By Kenny’s recollection they were 9 minutes down on race leader Jurgen Zack entering the run, and Albert Zweifel was in second. Kenny left Mark behind at the start of the 30k run and at the halfway mark Zack was in striking distance. He passed Zweifel but bonked with 5k to go.  Zweifel repassed him, then Mark closed near the finish line.  His desire to beat Mark reinvigorated him and he battled Zweifel to take second and hold off Mark.
