Today’s Pep Talk is near and dear to my heart, and it’s not something that I’ve always believed in and preached! If you’ve been following along on my journey within the last couple of year, you may have heard me say things contrary to what I’m about to say today. But as I evolve, I want to continue to share what I believe to be true, even if it’s different from what I thought to be true a few years ago. As an entrepreneur, it’s really easy to get caught up in the grind if you aren’t careful. And yet, a lot of us are chasing more time, more freedom. We want to be able to look back on our lives and say with confidence, “I was present and I lived it.” I do believe strongly in a schedule, in dedicating blocks of time to focus and work hard without distractions. And I’m not going back on that, I still strongly believe that. But I have also come to the realization that there are people in my life that I want to always make time for, no matter what is going on. I don’t want my kids to ever look back and remember that I didn’t have time to play with them or listen to them because I was working too hard. I don’t want to look back years down the road and remember the time I screened my mom’s call so I could have a few more minutes to work. So yes, have your structure and have your blocked time. But know who your people are that you hold above all of that, and never hesitate to put them first. www.elizabethhartke.com/podcast/090 Do you know what sets you apart from the crowd?
