“Today I don’t feel like doing anything.” In Episode 23, Kiara and Farrah are just a couple Juliet’s looking for their Romeo’s as they re-live the 24K Magic of Bruno Mars’ genre-spanning debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010). In another socially-distanced session, five-timer Farrah fills Kiara in on the Tik Tok tracks that have kept her sane in quarantine, and the two reminisce about their days in high school over a few Lazy Tom’s. In this episode, we dissect Mars’ incomparable glow-up, from his humble beginnings in the Hawaiian version of the Von Trapp family, to some very questionable similes, to the Superbowl, all the while noting his cute, funky, and sad personas that all make an appearance on the record. And in between the teen bops, self-care anthems, and sad jam “lites”, we ask ourselves the big questions: do these songs still slap ten years later? Will Enrique Iglesias ever come back to town? And fedoras: for or against?
