In today's episode, Jason talks with Dr. Jan Janecka of Duquesne University. Dr. Janecka is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Duquesne. He also serves as an Associate of the Snow Leopard Conservancy, and a member of the IUCN/SSC Cat Specialist Group, and the Snow Leopard Network. He received his B.S. degree in Biology from Cornell University. He examined social structure and dispersal of bobcats for his Master's thesis in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology at University of Vermont. Today, we are going to talk about his Ph.D. dissertation from Texas A&M University that examined the effects of habitat fragmentation on the genetic diversity of ocelots. We also cover some of his post-doctoral research, which covers mammalian phylogenetics, patterns in the diversification of mammals, and snow leopard conservation genetics.
