Todays podcast tells the powerful story of hairdresser who's struggles with dyslexia and ADHD has not stopped them from becoming one of the UK's most dynamic and show stopping hair performers. But it could have all been so different. Low self-esteem, behaviour problems, learning and frustration was just some of the battles todays guest, Dean Bradwell, has had to face in life as a Dyslexic. Difficulties in reading and writing could have stopped Dean from reaching his full potential. No chance! Three times finalist in the North East British Hairdressing Awards, finalist in the Alternative Hair Awards and working for product companies throughout America and Europe, hairdressing has allowed him to express his rebellious and outside the box thinking to achieving a successful pathway in his hairdressing career. But it hasn't – or does it continue to be easy, for this hair maverick. Dyslexics are often very creative individuals. This is because they are often trying to find other ways to solve problems, learn things differently, or make things easier, giving them the capability to be groundbreaking innovators. Something that Dean has bags of! What a love most in this story is Dean sharing how the teachings of hairdressing didn't always make sense ... Until now!
