In this episode, we talk with journalist Andy Wittry, creator of the popular Out of Bounds online column focusing on issues surrounding college athletics, about the upcoming Name/Image/Likeness (NIL) initiative that will allow student-athletes to profit commercially during their time as a college athlete. The question we ask Wittry, who has done extensive research on the topic and how different athletic departments are preparing to handle it, to try and answer the question, "are college athletic departments ready for NIL?" We focus on an investigative article by Wittry which explored that question. His findings, and our podcast discussion, can help athletic departments and coaches learn from some early mistakes colleges have made to ensure they move forward as strongly and confidently as possible.
