The Promised Neverland takes place in an orphanage where there are 34 children and one lady, who they call simply mom, and everything seems just perfect and the children patiently await their day to get adopted. The children are schooled, and tested based upon their performance and aim to score higher than the others in the same age range. The final and beautiful day comes when one the younger children gets adopted and it's a bittersweet moment for all involved, the others are happy for her, while sad to see their sister go. She ends up leaving behind her stuffed bunny. Two of the others see it and run after her to return it. They are then met with the chilling realization that the orphanage is not what it seems. They are in reality a part of a farm for children to be raised up and later sold to demons to be sold at a high price.
