A Sunday sermon by Pastor David Singh.The image of Jesus riding on a donkey into Jerusalem does not exactly evoke the picture of power or victory; however, this event launches the final push of Jesus’ battle over satan and the rout of sin and death at the cross. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, he set his face toward Jerusalem for one singular purpose. The Cross is the decisive battle where Jesus demonstrates his victory over death. This is not just some legal transaction where Jesus satisfies the requirement of the law or pacifies an angry God by offering himself to die in our place. This is far more than that. This is God who in his love comes down and fights the battle for us and shares his victory with us. Victory in Jesus is way more than forgiveness of sin. Forgiveness is the amazing work of grace; but grace abounds even more in the freedom to live as children of God. We are restored in his kingdom and now have the capacity to fully reflect his image and live as children of God. Let us rejoice in His abundant grace and victory!
