In 1921 a group of brave men flew to Yosemite Valley in a Jacuzzi J-7 plane to explore the possibility of passenger service to the national park. On the way back to the Bay Area, the plane crashed onto a Modesto street in West Modesto, tragically killing all four aboard, including pilot Bud Coffee.
