Friday Late

Miscellaneous

Friday Late is a weekly interview program from the people who bring you PM. Daily current affairs doesn't always have time to let guests stretch out and expand on their knowledge - Friday Late fills that gap. Each week, Mark Colvin talks to three or four newsmakers, analysts and thinkers about the events that shape our time. On tonight's program is the twentieth century Renaissance man, the director of the British Museum and former director of London's National Gallery, Neil MacGregor. Our conversation will range from the beginning of human history 2 million years ago, through to art history and Shakespeare, to his teacher Antony Blunt, who turned out to be the Fourth Man in Britain's most notorious spy scandal. Also on tonight's episode, Martin Harrison is here for the Francis Bacon exhibition due to open at the Art Gallery of NSW. Martin shares with us the suffering and troubles of this confronting artist.
