Raising Nashville

Society & Culture

Over the next two weeks we will be covering a time in Nashville when you took a short drive down I-24 to see the biggest bands in the world play under the stars with 18,000 screaming fans.  While its name changed a few times over the 20 year run, to Nashvillians it will always be known as Starwood Amphitheatre.  In the first part of this two-part series we are going to explore when Starwood was built, some of the first bands that played there, stories from past performances, and interview a production employee who worked at the amphitheater for 10 years.  From Wu-Tang's kids to Ozzy's bowel movements and burning pizza boxes on the lawn, the tales that can be told from inside those gates are endless and too much to fit in one episode.  Also this week we cover the Starwood Amphitheater Memories Facebook page, a safe haven for people old and young to compile pictures, videos, memories, and everything in between.  From The Monkees to Motley Crue: a look back at Starwood Amphitheatre,  is OUT NOW!
