As Jacob prepares to see his son, Joseph, again for the first time in over 20 years his excitement is mixed with some apprehension. His grandfather Abraham had gotten himself into a lot of trouble while traveling through Egypt (Genesis 12:10-20). God had told Jacob's father Isaac not to go down to Egypt during a famine in his own day (26:1-15). Was this foreign travel out of the promised land authorized by God? Or would his passport be revoked? In order to quiet Jacob’s apprehension, God assures him with this promise: I myself will go down with you to Egypt. What does it mean for God to be with us? How can that assurance help us today as we face our own apprehensions and fears? Join us as we explore this promise and its significance for our lives today.
