#FaithHakesley joins me today to discuss her book "Glimmers of Grace: Moments of Peace And Healing Following Sexual Abuse". We discuss how grace impacted her life and how moments of #grace can come from the most unlikely of places. She has a powerful story and great words of inspiration and #encouragement for all who are hurting. Over the course of her life, she has overcome many traumas including clerical abuse and the sudden death of a brother. Faith has also survived a rare form of eye cancer and lives with a heart condition. In 2008, Faith was one of five victims of clerical abuse from the Archdiocese of Boston to meet with Pope Benedict XVI during his trip to Washington, D.C. As a result of their meeting, she began reaching out to others suffering from trauma, particularly sexual abuse, and became passionate about sharing her story in an effort to offer a message of hope to others who are suffering. Faith strives to be an advocate for survivors, break the stigmas associated with trauma, and encourage others to find hope through their faith. Faith has been interviewed on CNN with Campbell Brown and Anderson Cooper, Face the Nation, Catholic Connection with Teresa Tomeo, Kresta in the Afternoon with Al Kresta, EWTN News Nightly with Lauren Ashburn, Emmanuel Radio with Cindy Dorsey, WJR with Marie Osborne, Catholic TV's This is the Day with Bishop Robert Reed, and many others. She was a guest speaker at the 2009 Women Affirming Life Breakfast in Norwood, MA and also at the 2020 Survivors' Summit hosted by the Ruth Institute. Faith has been a contributing writer for the National Catholic Register and for the non-profit organization, Made in His Image. Her book, Glimmers of Grace, a devotional for survivors of sexual abuse, was published by Our Sunday Visitor in August 2020. Glimmers of Grace tied for first place in the Inspirational Category for the Association of Catholic Publishers Excellence in Publishing Awards.
