Years ago, men left the house for work and women stayed at home caring for children and the household. Generally, women cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and made sure their children had at least the bare necessities (food, water, shelter, and clean clothes). Men provided the finances, while women provided the nurturing. However, times have changed. Now, if parents stay together, they both work to ensure their families have everything they need and as much of their wants as possible. Even if moms are single, they still work and in some cases, more than one job. With this, we have seen a shift in how women think, approach life, and respond to different situations. If you ask them, most women will tell you, "I don't need a man to take care of me." Is this fact or fiction? How did we get here? What does it mean? Has it hurt or helped our society? How do or should a man respond to this notion?
