Tips to help with depression Start each morning with a thankfulness mantra. Start your day with what you are thankful for. Be more active. Try to exercise or move around the house or go outside. Being out in the sun is helpful. Spending too much time inside has a negative impact on your mood. Try to eat a healthy diet. Some people don’t feel like eating when they are depressed and some people overeat and it’s usually unhealthy and leads to weight gain, which adds to the depression. Set a goal for the day. Something to focus on that you want to accomplish. Get quality sleep. Depression and sleep go hand & hand.  Lack of sleep may cause of contribute to depression. Be Kind to yourself. It’s not your fault you are feeling depressed. Don’t beat yourself up over. Do the opposite of what the depression voice is telling you. If you need to wallow, wallow, but do so constructively. Suppressing your feelings and emotions may seem like a strategic way to cope with the negative symptoms of depression.  Stay in touch with friends. Don’t isolate. And last, but definitely not least, if you need to, seek help.
