Convinced by such insuperable odds, in June 2004, the Court of Appeal in The Hague convicted Lucia (a nurse) formally for seven murders and three attempted murders. But the odds were wrong and Lucia suffered a miscarriage of justice. Her story is a cautionary tale of not trusting statistics.
