NZ Everyday Investor

Business

Author, economist, investment banker and lawyer, Jim Rickards is my  special guest todayInvesting in a post-pandemic world – that’s our topic. I’ve arranged to chat with Jim as he wrote a new book recently: The New Great Depression /winners and losers in a post pandemic world.2020 confirmed what I’ve been sensing for over 3 yrs now in relation to what’s coming for the everyday investor -  change is coming. Specifically though, I’m talking about a different type of change –transformation. If you also believe that transformation is coming, the good news is that we can take position in it – there is something we can do.  While many investors will still follow the old rules, old strategies and old tools to build wealth (btw way I myself believe this is likely still the wisest thing to do), I think, especially for my generation and younger, we need to ask a challenging question around how we’re going to build wealth in the new world: Whatever strategy you have, will it be durable, in a world of transformation to come? With equity markets even our monetary system, I think there’s a growing chance we’re either in the eye of the storm or in the calm before the storm – either way, things may soon get shaken, so perhaps investors do need thinking about how to prepare._________________________________________________________________The NZ Everyday Investor is brought to you in partnership with Hatch.
