After 100 days in Istanbul I finally made it home. My trip there would have been 18 days shorter but there were issues with my flight home due to the Covid-19 crisis. In this podcast I share a few tales from the start of my time there, and play the first part of my chat with Benjy. Benjy was the closet friend I made during my time there, with the most intriguing life of anyone I've ever met. I had to get it down on tape and share it with as many people that would listen. It was a perfect chance to start my podcast again. The first part of his story includes: * How he learned English and other languages. * What life was like for him as a child and other Syrians under the rule of the dictator Bashar el Assad. * The story of the punishment given to a group of children, which led to an uprising from the Syrian people and the formation of the Freedom Army. I will be sharing more tales from my time in Istanbul and my chat with Benjy of the next 3 days.
