We sometimes celebrate ourselves and, in the process, lose sight of the goal. Have you ever heart Aesop’s fable about The Hare and the Tortoise? It’s about a race between a tortoise and a hare and it ends with the persistent turtle beating the over-confident rabbit. As we begin to explore today’s text we’re going to see that Ezekiel addresses a prideful king who was counting his victories only to discover that he had no reason to confidently claim to be the eternal king.
