With crude oil prices on the rise, over half of what people pay for petrol and diesel are taxes. The taxes levied by the Centre on petrol have gone up from 14% to 32% of the retail cost in the last seven years. As fuel prices continue the upward climb, should the Centre intervene to help ease the burden on the common man?
