Lana del ray born to die We’ve all had that feeling about at least one game, comic book, movie, etc., that comes out: “Gee, I could do better than this! This is overrated.” But it’s important to take a step back and realize that, hey, they put in the time to finish a project and I haven’t. That’s at least one thing they might be better than me at, and it’s probably why they have the recognition I don’t! If you treat finishing like a skill, rather than simply a step in the process, you can acknowledge not only that it’s something you can get better at, but also what habits and thought processes get in your way. -derek yu I don’t know why but this album just makes me crazy the insanity of metal and need to just throw stuff. Half way through the second song I moved to listening To megadeth last rites. I made a lot of assumptions about this artist, I actually realized that I may have never heard a single song by Lana del Ray. This does not sound like the typical pop I thought this artist was. There’s a lot of descriptions online about what genre this is. I am not sure what it is. But you can go on wikipedia and identify it. But there’s definitely some pop elements. As a “metal head” I gotta admit I struggle with it. It goes against a lot of stereotypes about myself. “I’m jon I don’t listen to pop! This popular! This isn’t fast or filled with people playing their instruments and showin off!” This album reminds me of some of the limited folk I have in my library. It’s kind of cool that music that harkens to that sound can be this crazy popular. It’s not badly done. As a “GAMER” I wish that video games song had more to do with video games but Black Out Band’s video games really did a great job with that. I actually wish I had heard more of this on the top 40 radio but I am not sure how much play it gets but at the same time this artist is very popular I may have no idea what I’m talking about. Should you listen to this? I don’t know a lot of people have listened to it already do you like pop but what DIFFERENT POP then you may have found the album for you. It’s obviously well put together. I wish I had a track that captured me stronger but I am not sure if I’ll come back to this album very often. I think that when you have a super popular artist that you haven’t listened to it’s always worth listening to a couple of singles like “summer time saddness” and seeing if they get you. Some people only listen to music, that has a large audience “crowds follow crowds” I’m guilty of it, I listen to popular artists within metal and some hiphop too. It helps sift through what’s good and what’s bad. There’s obvious good writing here and I enjoy the vocal delivery especially when the words fly out fast. They did a good job. Many of the songs have song writers Lana del ray and rick Nowels. Do I feel like it’s captured my human experience? No. Is it extremely competent? Yes. Should you listen? If you like pop or older folk Americana music I don’t know what it’s called. I do wish that pop followed more of this trend of you know...differentiating itself. There’s songs about wanting to be dead not typical pop, dark paradise is a pretty good song. I found myself humming it while listening to it. Off to the races kinda catchy The “joy orbinson” song came out of left field https://tusharvaghela.wordpress.com/2014/06/18/make-games-finishing-a-game/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message
