About Our Guest Sam Zelinka is a Project Leader for the Building and Fire Sciences for the US Forest Service. Sam has been with the US Forest Service over the past 20 years, where he's lead an interdisciplinary research team whose mission was to produce research that protects wood buildings from the effects of fire and moisture. Sam started his blog to document his journey towards financial independence and to help other government employees understand their retirement benefits and whether or not they can retire early. Most of the analysis on the site is geared towards federal employees, however, a lot of the analysis of analyzing financial independence with a pension is applicable to state and municipal employees as well.
