MERU Concert held on 21 May 2017 at Oranjerie theater, Roermond, the Netherlands Parupalli.S. Phalgun (mridangam) and Shahbaz Hussain (tabla) Parupalli.S. Phalgun - on Mridangam Parupalli is an extremely talented and dynamic performer. He is well known for his dexterity and fine percussion techniques. He has collaborated with leading artists from India and abroad in solos, duets and collaborative events. To name a few renowned artists, Violinists L. Subramaniam, Ganesh Kumaresh, Chitravina Ravikiran, Mandolin U Shrinivas, Vocalist Pt. Ajoy Chakraborthy, Flute Maestro Shashank, Sitar Maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, among many others. Shahbaz Hussain - on Tabla Shahbaz, got trained at a very early age under the guidance of his father, the late tabla maestro Mumtaz Hussain. Shahbaz then went on to learn from some of tabla's great masters - Ustad Faiyaz Khan from the Delhi Gharana (school), the late Ustad Shaukat Hussain Khan from the Punjab Gharana and finally the late Legendary Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. Shahbaz is now a rising star in the world of South Asian classical music. He regularly travels across the world to accompany the grand masters of Indian music, including sitarist Ustad Shahid Parvez, flautist Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and ghazal legend Ghulam Ali to name just a few. Shahbaz has performed in many prestigious venues around the world, including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C, Lincoln Centre in New York and London's Royal Albert & Queen Elizabeth Halls.
