Courage can be one of those mysterious leadership traits that people feel you either have or you don't. "You can't teach courage," I hear people say. Well, I'm not so sure about that. Courage is certainly an important trait for a leader. The Marine Corps requires courage in leaders for obvious reasons. War brings about countless scenarios that require courage. But even the corporate world has scenarios that require leaders to have courage. Having a difficult conversation with a team member requires courage. Making a significant decision that directly impacts the business and team members requires courage. At times, you may feel like you don't have courage. But I do believe courage can be learned.
