ON (WARD) FASHION, the podcast of business solutions for sustainable fashion, receives Birgit Freundorfer - Head of Design at Adidas - and Mike Joyce - CEO of the company PrimaLoft, to talk about the first jacket in recycled PET single-material, outdoor and technical, returnable and fully recyclable. When we launched the podcast two years ago, sustainable fashion was still a niche topic. Our first guests were young entrepreneurs often considered as dreamers, artisans and anonymous brands, activists for ethical fashion and against global warming. Today, if we have the great honor of sharing a round table with Birgit Freundorfer - Head of Design at Adidas - and Mike Joyce - CEO of the company PrimaLoft, it is not so much because we have become very famous but because that sustainability is now a central issue for every brand. The ecological transition is underway, it is long, expensive and tedious. The conventional brands that the sportswear giants are aware of: "With great power comes great responsibility."This episode is available in the original version, but it has also been translated in the French, you will find it following this one on your podcast app.Adidas x Primaloft x Parley For The Oceans, the Futurecraft.loop Anorak projectIn this round table, we discuss an unprecedented cooperation between these two brands, Adidas, a sportswear and outdoor giant whose sub-division Adidas Terrex is the pole dedicated to technical outdoor clothing, and Primaloft, based in the United States, world leader in the development of technological and innovative solutions in terms of insulation and high performance textiles, which works with more than 900 leading brands in the outdoor, fashion, home, workwear sectors, etc.In association with Parley for the Oceans, the Futurecraft.loop Anorak project questions the classic process for a product, from all points of view: it is eco-designed, mono-material, the sourcing is different, the traceability is integral and enabled by a QR code, the economic model also new, introducing the deposit and 100% recyclability. The Futurecraft.loop anorak: the first recycled and 100% recyclable mono-material technical jacketCreated to reduce plastic waste and not create it, the Futurecraft.loop anorak is the first fully reusable outdoor clothing prototype from Adidas Terrex. It was designed to be returnable to be returned to the brand after use and recycled in its entirety, Adidas’s first finger in the cycle of the circular economy. This jacket is made up of 3 technical layers and a yarn, all of which are made from the same material, a recycled polyester composite from 12 plastic bottles for jackets, developed by Primaloft. This jacket is a technical, insulating and waterproof product, developed by Parley For The Ocean for sourcing and Primaloft. Zips, rivets, buttons, hook and loop, press studs: all excess trim and details have been removed to allow easy recycling without deconstruction. For this reason, it is an anorak to put on like a pullover and not a jacket, in the literal sense of the cut of the garment (it does not close in front so as not to have to resort to a system. traditional closure). It is also "no dye": the material retains its natural color (a fairly bright, basely white), which saves water quality, energy and fewer chemicals.A pilot test program for 50 people around the world, of which The Good Goods was a part!To test the design, performance, feel, recycling concept and return process, between February and April 2021, Adidas Terrex teamed up with a select group of 50 designers from around the world. The Good Goods was fortunate enough to be one of these 50 elected officials! For six weeks, we wore the jacket in multiple conditions and gave our opinion in 4 satisfaction and suggestion questionnaires (we were not paid for that, nor for this article). We then returned the product to the brand to test its recycling...  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
