Inside the Healing Room

Miscellaneous

If you've ever considered becoming a healing practitioner or you've been in the healing arts for a long time, this interview will light you up. Phillip Ward, Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist, inspires me to bring my best to my self-care practice and my clients. Phillip and I go way back, all the way back to massage school in 1995 when we were both waking up and beginning our healing journey. If anyone out there has an interest in enrolling in a healing arts school, becoming a massage therapist, acupuncturist or any kind of holistic healer, I hope you listen to this interview for some huge truth bombs and wisdom from Philip. "The secret for me in any type of self-help work, reprogramming, adopting a new spiritual practice or meditation...what makes it, ultimately, is if you commit with all of your soul. Commit to what you want with all your soul, commit to being awesome at life and wanting to be your best self and follow that program with consistency, that's the secret."-Phillip Ward, L.Ac I had so much fun doing this interview with Phillip, where we explore:  *Why massage school teaches you about a whole lot more than massage therapy *How to navigate through a healing crisis and how "waking up" is not for the faint of heart *What it takes to de-program ourselves and what that has actually been like for both of us *We discuss the link between art and healing, along with Phillip's journey in acting, film, bodywork and tai chi *Phillip shares his passion and journey into Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and how we became an acupuncturist to the stars. *Consistency is the science. Why the workout or mediation practice that works is the one you will do consistently. *When it comes to making a career choice to be a healer, whatever you're doing supports you, you are doing it right. The only way to know is make a decision about something and see if it feeds your soul. *The Way of the Peaceful Warrior by, Dan Millman, is a favorite of both of ours and we didn't even know it.  I share a really sweet story about my Dad's connect with this book while he was in jail. This book is a must read and Phillip shares the principle of how knowledge is useless if it isn't used. https://www.amazon.com/Way-Peaceful-Warrior-Changes-Lives/dp/1932073205 *I re-read The Diamond Cutter all the time and I get something new out of it each time I take in the wisdom. I can't recommend this book enough! https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Cutter-Buddha-Managing-Business/dp/038552868X *We also discuss how healing practitioners can strengthen and fortify each other and why this is so important right now.
